Trail Magic Along the Way

The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way (Psalm 37:23 EV).

On the Appalachian Trail, hikers often encounter “trail magic,” which is unexpected gifts of foods, snacks, drinks, and special treats placed along the way by people who are not hiking the trail.  They show up and hand out goodies or they leave the goodies when no one is around.  Often hikers find just the right things left for them in just the right places.

So it is with the journeys of those who delight in the Lord.  God places just the right goodies along your path for you to discover in the right moments.  It is as if the Lord is hiking the trail with and ahead of you.  When you are hungry, you find snacks.  When it is raining, you discover shelter.  David puts it this way:  “The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way” (Psalm 37:23 ESV).

Look for the trail magic and rejoice when you find it.  God is with you and will surely put help along your way for you to find when you need it.  He is on the journey with you and knows what you need.  Your steps are blessed and favored by your heavenly Father.  Look for trail magic.
