“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master’” (Matthew 25:23 ESV).
Faithfulness is hard to find. Solomon asks in Proverbs 20:6, “Many a man proclaims his own steadfast love, but a faithful man who can find” (ESV)? Anyone can profess loyalty because lip service is easy. Obedience requires more than words. Jesus’ parable about the talents in Matthew 25:14-30 illustrates this truth. Two of the three servants were found faithful, but one was not. This parable also illustrates that God rewards faithful stewardship with greater responsibility. The path to leadership requires faithful responsibility for those tasks and those people put in your care. Faithfulness is hard to find and is rewarded.
Today be faithful in those thing to which you are called. Be a good steward of the time, talents, and gifts you have received. Invest yourself wisely in service to others. Remember that your Lord will judge your stewardship. Your faithfulness in small things will lead to responsibility for bigger things. Be faithful in those things to which you are called. Do what lies clearly at hand.
