But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law (Galatians 4:4 ESV)
Elevators seem to take an eternity to arrive and open. No matter how short the actual delay, waiting on an elevator can seem endless – like watching a pot of water boil or waiting for a traffic light to change. Christmas, too, can seem to take forever to arrive, especially for young children, and yet every year it arrives on the right date, December 25th. It always shows up at the right moment.
God has perfect timing. Everything in his plan occurs at the precise moment it should happen. Nothings surprises God and God never deviates from his purpose. Everything happens at the perfect time. Jesus was born at the right time of human history in the right place to accomplish God’s plan for our salvation, and Jesus himself announced that “the time is fulfilled” when he began his earthly ministry (Mark 1:15 ESV). His appearance was neither early nor late. He began his earthly ministry when all the right conditions were met (e.g., civilization, language, technology). The first Christmas – the birth of Jesus – came right on time.
Do not get ahead of God. Wait on his timing and trust that his plan will unfold exactly as the Lord intends. Do not be in hurry, but also remember that God expect you to be busy doing what he has assigned you to while you wait on his next instruction or his permission for the next thing. His timing is perfect, and when the time is right, the door will open or the door will shut. Do not stop waiting on God. Christmas has always been on the time.
