Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:23 ESV).
“Close don’t count in baseball. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.” Halfway there is not there yet. A half tank of gas is not a full tank of class. There is no partial credit in heaven. “Almost” is not enough.
God never does anything halfway. Paul’s blessing in 1 Thessalonians 5:23 highlights how completely the Lord does everything. A saved soul is a completely saved soul! There are no half measures with God. When Jesus declares you “blameless,” he means exactly that – there is no blemish on you. You are completely clean, completely righteous, completely sanctified. There is no partial salvation, no partial credit. “My cup overflows” (Psalm 23:5 ESV). When God fills a cup, it overflows.
If you have accepted Christ as your savior, do not doubt the thoroughness of Christ’s work. You are saved completely and nothing can tarnish your salvation or cause God to reject you. God never does anything half-way. Since God is no liar, you can trust that his pronouncement of “clean” is unchanging and irrevocable. Be completely at ease and at rest concerning your eternity. Do not let the world, the flesh or the devil rob you of your trust in God. If God does it, it is done completely (Hebrews 7:25).
