Swim Downstream

Oh that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their descendants forever! (Deuteronomy 5:29 ESV)

Swimming against a current is harder than swimming downstream.  A tailwind is better than a headwind when you ride a bike or run a race.  Trying to find success without God is like swimming against the current; it can be done, but it is easier to go with the flow.

If you will fear God and obey His commandments, it will “go well” with you.  You will move in the current of God’s purpose and plan for your life.  Surrendering your will to the will of the Father puts you in a position to discern what is right and pure and best.  Wherever you are pushing against God, you are swimming upstream and hindering the Lord’s operations in your life.  God desires that it “might go well” with you.

Examine your motives and your choices.  If they are contrary to the will of God, stop swimming upstream and surrender to the will of the Father.   Know God’s will by reading God’s word and by praying regularly.  Then you will swim downstream and enjoy God’s plan.
