God Wants You to Have Redemption

For by grace you have been saved through faith.  And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8 ESV).

“No creature that deserved redemption would need to be redeemed,” writes C. S. Lewis in The World’s Last Night and Other Essays (86).  Lewis reminds us that humanity does not deserve the salvation of the Lord. “They that are whole need not the physician.”  Because humanity could not merit redemption, God had to provide it.  Gifts are never deserved (Eph. 2:8; Rom. 6:23).

The marvelous message is that God wants you to be redeemed.  Otherwise, the Scripture would not announce that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13 ESV).   If there is a single person who cannot be saved, then Jesus’ blood is inadequate and His suffering insufficient for the sins of the world.  To sing “Jesus paid it all” is proclaim that every person can be redeemed, even you.

Stop discounting yourself because you are sinner.  Everyone has sinned and no one merits salvation, so stop thinking that you are the one person so far gone that Jesus Christ cannot save you.  It is agreed that you don’t deserve it.  That’s beside the point – God wants you to have redemption. Today reject any thought which says you cannot be loved, saved, or transformed; your Savior loves you despite your sin (Rom. 5:8) and wants you to experience His grace.
