Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. (Psalm 37:5 ESV)
“He’s got the whole world in His hands.” Every believer acknowledges this fact. The sovereignty of God over everything in the universe is certain. Nothing in the universe is left to chance if God is indeed in control. The same God who watches over the sparrows and the flowers watches over every human being every minute and every hour of the day. Seldom is the sovereignty of God in dispute for a believer.
Yet, despite our recognition of God’s omnipotence and loving care, we find it difficult to trust Him. Letting go and letting God work can be difficult. We worry over things we cannot control. Things which are too big for us are a burden to us – a burden which we were not meant to carry. We play God when we try to carry what He Himself has always planned to carry for us. We are hesitant to trust God when we are not in charge of the details.
Today, let go and let God. Trust God one minute, one hour, one day at a time. Look up and see the brightness of His glory and sense the presence of His Spirit. Then close your eyes and breathe a prayer. You are not alone. “He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32 ESV). He loves you every minute and every hour. Trust him.
